VLBA President's Report

 

I would like to extend a warm welcome to all members of the Berwick Bowling Club and wish them well for the 2008 – 2009 season. Our opening day on Tuesday September 2 nd was very well attended. We enjoyed a lovely luncheon and good fellowship and our season was officially opened by Bernice Helle, Vice President of the VLBA. Bernice presented Super Veteran Badges to four of our ladies and all in attendance enjoyed sharing in this important occasion.

Once again we have a number of new ladies joining us and we trust that they will enjoy their bowling with us. Marie Stewart and Barbara Gribbin are our new member co-ordinators this season and they will need help from all of our members to assist new girls to settle in to our club.

CLUB TOURNAMENTS

This year we have a locked box attached to the base of the ladies carousal where our club events are listed. Players must put their entry money in the envelope provided along with their name and events listed on the envelope. Many thanks to Allan Thompson for making this box.

Once again we have entered four sides of sixteen in the VLBA pennant competition. With our club growing at a fast rate there will be a number of girls who cannot be included in a pennant team at this time. The selectors are organizing a game of bankers every Tuesday beginning at 10.30 AM.

 

As our club continues to grow the workload certainly increases and I ask all members to willingly assist the girls who have taken on positions of responsibility. Remember the more shoulders to the wheel, the easier the wheel will turn.
